First Music Video Shoot
First of all, I want to start off by saying, “WHAT IS HAPPENING?”. After years of being obsessed with music videos and the creative vision that goes into them, I never imagined myself actually being in one of them. Music is such a constant in my life, and the concept of having visuals to enhance the art has always been amazing to me. So, what was it like being on set of a music video? I’ll tell you. It was spectacular.
This past weekend, I was on set for the incredibly talented Balam Kiel’s newest hit “YA ME CANSDE DE TI” featuring multi-instrumentalist Isai. The video shoot took course over two days and several different locations. We met the first day at a house and I got acquainted really quickly with the incredible team working on the video. We spent the day taking shots of different scenes and setting up for new ones. We took a 40 minute lunch break, finished recording the rest of the scenes and called it a wrap. The second day, I met the team again at an Auto-body shop in Richmond and we continued to do the same thing. Of course there was much more that went into it, but we won’t go into detail this time.
A concern I had going into this was how I was going to be treated on set as a woman. But to my surprise, every body was so easy and respectful to work with. The artists were both very down to earth, and humble. The Director, zectrix was fuelled by his ideas and brought tremendous energy to the set. The Director of Photography, Bryn McCashin displayed extensive knowledge in his craft and was able to capture each moment marvellously. And lastly, Key Grip who was run by Keyon Slowly and Tyler Graham helped ensure that all the visions were made to life.
Overall, it was an amazing set and unforgettable experience and it could not have happened without the help of Kane, from Tiv Productions. I feel extremely grateful to have been a part of this experience, and look forward to hopefully working on more music videos in the future.
As always… Lots of love,
