2018, That's a Wrap!

Wow, I cannot believe another year has gone by, and what a year it has been. From comfort to heartbreak, to living in a new city, to self discovery, and everything in between… 2018 was definitely quite the ride.

Early 2018 I was living in Vancouver rent-free, grocery-free in a penthouse, and was driving mommy’s Porsche everywhere I wanted to go. Now, as sweet as this all sounds, the downfall that it came with was that I was living the dream life that I had not created for myself. The abundance of comfort that was offered to me was countered by a lack of drive to create this world for myself. It wasn’t until my heartbreak that I was given a wake up call that I needed to get out of this comfort in order to grow, and learn how to fend for myself.

20 years old. New city. little money in my bank account, and only a couple people to turn to. Los Angeles is where it all began.

When I moved, I had a rough idea of what my interests are. My initial step was to start networking and meeting people. My sister had introduced me to a facebook group targeted towards photographers and models in the LA area and I made a post, and started meeting with people for photoshoots. I quickly learned that I love being in front of the camera and the entire process leading up to the moment. I learnt that I can incorporate fashion, and beauty into my photoshoots, and that I was only confident enough for the photoshoots when my health and fitness was in check. On top of that, I learnt that what was inspiring the theme or the mood of these photoshoots was the music I was listening to. So already, within the first few months of being there I had a foundation of what my dream career looks like.

Towards the end of my stay in LA, I audited an acting class (per my friends request), and never in my life had I felt more in tune with the people around me. Unfortunately, around the same time my visa expired and I had to move back home. But since being back in September, I have taken part in 3 different acting classes, gotten myself an agent, have been in a couple of music videos, started taking dance classes and have slowly started creating a brand for myself here in Vancouver.

This past year definitely had its ups and its downs but I am grateful for each and every one of them for they have led me to where I am today. Closing off 2018 with a optimistic attitude and I am ready to take on 2019 by the horn.
